May 2015 was the second warmest recorded since 1998

This past May was significantly hotter across the northern hemisphere and especially over Russia and Alaska.

As analysed by NOAA in their monthly state of the climate report, the global average Earth surface temperature in May 2015 was +0.71 degrees Celsius above the long term average, the second warmest since 2014 that was warmer of +0.79 degrees Celsius.
